'Art & Atmosphere' Revisited
Video of our 2017 exhibition featuring artistic renderings of Glendalough

We revisit our 2017 Heritage Week project with this video of ‘Art & Atmosphere’, an exhibition of eighteenth and nineteenth century artistic representations of the Glendalough Valley.

Due to social restrictions on social gatherings this year (2020), rather than inviting communities to host Heritage Week events, the Heritage Council has invited communities around the country to undertake projects that explore a topic associated with this year’s theme – ‘Heritage and Education: Learning from our Heritage’.
The new approach is designed to promote the sharing of experience and knowledge.  It was suggested that groups revisit or build on a heritage project which may already have been started and the Glendalough Heritage Forum has created this video of our 2017 exhibition to allow a broader audience experience these beautiful images of Glendalough from a bygone era.

These images appear courtesy of the National Library of Ireland, National Folklore Collection, National Gallery of Ireland and National Museum of Northern Ireland. They originally appeared as an exhibition entitled ‘Art & Atmosphere’ held in Glendalough during Heritage Week 2017.
